Yves Saint Laurent: Transparencies

Calais (F) > 24.06. - 12.11.2023
In 2023, the Museum of Lace and Fashion highlights the work of Yves Saint Laurent, a major couturier of the 20th century. The exhibition is co-produced with the Museum Yves Saint Laurent Paris.
By focusing on the theme of transparency, this unprecedented collaboration between the two museums reveals how the couturier was able to overturn the codes of unveiling the female body. Through some sixty models from the collections of the Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent Foundation and the Museum of Lace and Fashion, supplemented with accessories, drawings, photographs and videos, the exhibition demonstrates the manner in which Yves Saint Laurent used the effects of transparency of fabrics to propose a new, powerful and sensual female figure. The exhibition will be presented at two venues: first at the Museum of Lace and Fashion from June 24 to November 12, 2023, then at the Museum Yves Saint Laurent Paris from the beginning of 2024. A largely illustrated book will accompany the exhibition.
